Hello!
It’s been a hot minute since my last Substack post and a lot has changed. When I started on this platform, in late 2020 (I’m just an early adopter, guys 🤷♀️😉) we were amid a global pandemic, I was just about to get married and I was running my own business full-time.
It’s now 2024 and we’re back to normality (apart from the unimaginable levels of violence and suffering across the world and the fact the news is - generally speaking - a daily hellfire), I got married and my husband and I now have a 19-month-old son who is an absolute treasure.
I’m still running my business but a lot of my ways of working have had to change (hello, patriarchal society!) and I’m figuring out things as I go along. A lot about the very fabric of me has changed completely.
I’m not saying that in a condescending “parenting just changes you, it gives your life meaning” hippy-dippy sort of way many people love to adopt to make you feel like a shit person if parenting isn’t daily sunshine and rainbows. Being a parent gives me deep and enormous amounts of joy and purpose, but it is also fucking hard, stressful and monotonous sometimes.
I experienced what can only be described as “an undoing” in my early journey through motherhood, thanks to birth trauma, grief and horrific postnatal anxiety, and I’ll never be the same again. And that’s largely a really good thing!
I jest: it’s anything but sexy.
I’d been considering relaunching my Substack for a while and, like everything when you’re juggling, it kept falling to the bottom of the list. But I’m a blogger at heart and love to write and engage with others, so I decided to review everything I’d previously written as Rebels Get Results, then swiftly reverted those posts to Drafts (ha!), hoping to start over and write from the perspective of the person I am today.
So here I am, doing just that, and I thought it was only right to let you know and say that, if you decide to unsubscribe based on the revised direction of this newsletter, I understand. No hard feelings. Feel free to head on your merry way!
But, if you want to read my musings on The Juggle of running a business, being a Mam who is learning every day, and the breakthroughs and struggles along the way, hello and welcome!
This is my new Substack newsletter, The Juggle Is Real.
I can’t promise a regular schedule or a common theme, but what I can promise is real and raw honesty about The Juggle that so many of us navigate each day, with personal insights gained in therapy and through coaching, reading, listening and properly looking inwards that might just help someone else.
I’m not only referring to The Juggle of being a parent, by the way, because we all juggle so many other roles daily and it can be difficult to find a balance and keep a little of your energy and sanity for yourself.
That said, parenting will probably feature heavily as that’s my reality.
It’s not a parenting newsletter, it’s not a business newsletter, it’s not a mental health newsletter - it’s sort of all of those things at once… with (probably) a bit of pop culture thrown in too, because what is life without it?
I hope you enjoy it and - if you’re sticking around - do stay tuned and thanks for the support to date.
Like the previous iteration of this newsletter, I’d love to hear from you and if there are topics you’d like me to cover, I’m all ears. Please do get in touch!
Buzzin' to have you back!
Great to see you back on the ‘stack Lauren! Looking forward to your posts
